New Music and Arts Centre – Get Involved!

Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board needs community support to build a music and arts centre for young people in Glen Innes in the next three to five years.
"Getting funding for the centre is our number-one priority," says Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board Chair Leila Boyle. "We are working alongside the community to decide what will happen in the centre. This could include performing arts, sculpture, or music and film production.

"The number of young people in Glen Innes is significantly higher than the regional average and the centre will strengthen our community by enhancing their sense of belonging. We hope the centre will provide a focal point for the whole community."

Glen Innes Music and Arts Centre community working group

The Glen Innes Music and Arts Centre team was thrilled with the response to their call for local people to join a working group to advise on the project from a community perspective.

The group will meet each month from January to June 2012 and provide advice on planning for the centre. Check out the group members here.
