Waitangi Day in Henderson set to be huge

2/02/2012

Auckland comes alive this Waitangi Day with the Black Seeds playing live and free at Henderson Park.

The concert launches Auckland Council’s Music in Parks Summer Sounds series and promises to be this summer’s must see, free outdoor event.

Having carved out their reputation through platinum-selling albums, The Black Seeds’ fusion of big-beat, funk, dub, soul and afro-beat will make for an unforgettable day.

The Black Seeds are supported by local band dDub, who promise to unleash a powerful and relentless roots explosion.

Also on hand will be Sassy and the Pocketbook, who will be pumping out some soulful original tunes from their upcoming debut album.

The Summer Sounds series is part of Auckland Council’s Music in Parks season, which also sees Ladi 6 perform with Ruby Frost and Victoria Girling-Butcher on 18 February at Nixon Park in Kingsland.

Midge Marsden and the Desotos play Blockhouse Bay Reserve on 2 March, whilst Tim Finn, Fagan and the People, and Night Choir take on Three Kings Reserve on 18 March.
