About OurAuckland

What is OurAuckland?

OurAuckland keeps Aucklanders informed about Auckland Council news, activities and events.

The mini-magazine is delivered to more than 535,000 homes across the region each month, and is also available at your local library, council service centre or local board office.

It replaces former council publications such as City Scene, Manukau Matters and Waitākere News.

To provide local content, the mini-magazine has 13 local versions reflecting the 13 ward boundaries. Check out our local news section.

OurAuckland online is updated regularly with Auckland Council news and council-delivered, -sponsored, -funded, -facilitated and -supported events.

You can also sign up for the OurAuckland Events e-newsletter - a weekly email newsletter to let you know what's happening across the region.

Terms and conditions for giveaways and competitions

At times, OurAuckland and/or the website and social media channels will run giveaways or competitions to encourage readership and visitation, as well as promote Auckland Council and other events. Competitions feature prizes that are given to a select number of readers based on criteria that are decided on a per-competition basis. Giveaways feature an offer or gift that can be redeemed by any reader in accordance with the terms and conditions.

The following criteria relate to competitions and giveaways in OurAuckland and the website/social media channels. They are summarised online, where they serve as usual criteria for competitions in OurAuckland (ie where a competition states "OurAuckland competition terms and conditions apply").

  • By entering a competition, you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted the terms and conditions listed below.
  • Entrants may be asked to opt in to receive further information from Auckland Council.
  • Employees and their immediate families of Auckland Council, CCOs and the prize sponsor/supplier cannot enter competitions.
  • People under the age of 18 may not enter when the prize incorporates air travel, hotel accommodation, alcohol or anything else that would be illegal to supply to a person under the age of 18 years old.
  • Auckland Council reserves the right to exclude any person from participating in the competition on reasonable grounds. Auckland Council also reserves the right to refuse to award any prize to an entrant who the editor decides has violated the rules, gained unfair advantage in participating in the promotion or won using fraudulent means.
  • All reasonable attempts will be made to contact the prize winner. Should attempts to contact the winner fail, another winner will be drawn or selected.
  • Unless otherwise stated, registration or entry is limited to one per person. Multiple entries will be excluded.
  • By entering, the council is granted exclusive permission to use an entrant's name, photograph and likeness in OurAuckland as required.
  • In terms of the Privacy Act 1993, unless explicitly stated on the entry form, information supplied as part of a competition (for example, email address, phone details, either for the council or competition sponsors) will not be collected or used for any other purpose than to ascertain a prize winner.
  • Auckland Council, at its sole discretion, reserves the right to extend or discontinue an OurAuckland competition or giveaway offer at any stage, for any reason.
  • Auckland Council takes no responsibility for any inability to enter, complete or continue the competition or giveaway due to equipment or technical malfunction, or other lack of access, including inadvertent disconnection, Acts of God or otherwise.
  • To the fullest extent permitted by the law, Auckland Council will not be liable for any loss or damage, or for personal injury as a result of this competition.
  • Auckland Council will not be responsible in any way whatsoever for any costs related to travel or accommodation to prize winners in accepting or redeeming their prizes, unless otherwise stated in the competition.
  • Entrants are responsible for ensuring the correctness of all details on entry forms. No responsibility can be taken by the Auckland Council for any incorrect information received.
  • Prize winners will be notified in advance of prizes being sent by courier where applicable. Couriers are instructed to have all prizes signed for on receipt. Failure to obtain a signature will result in the prize being returned to Auckland Council. Under such circumstances, another winner may be drawn/selected.
  • Proof of posting or emailing an entry cannot be taken as proof of delivery to Auckland Council.
  • Prizes are not transferable for cash. Auckland Council reserves the right to substitute a prize.
  • To qualify for a prize, the winner must be in Auckland, New Zealand to accept the prize.
