Call for proposals for Bledisloe Walkway Light Boxes

Andrea Wilkinson, Living Here, 2012.
Submissions are now open for exhibition proposals for the Bledisloe Walkway Light Boxes in Auckland’s CBD. The light boxes offer artists, curators and arts organisations the opportunity to exhibit in a unique format in a high-profile location. The aim of the Light Box programme is to exhibit the work of innovative contemporary artists.
The Light Box programme meets two of council’s key expectations for public art by "creating richness" through the diversity of artists’ expressions and stories over time; and "generating surprise" through exhibitions that will surprise, delight and challenge over time.
There are a total of six fixed wall-mounted light boxes. Five of which are 1840mm wide x 1000mm high in landscape format; and one smaller one, 550mm wide x 1000mm high in portrait format which is generally used for exhibition signage.
Between three and four exhibitions featuring the work of both individual artists, and curated group exhibitions are held each year.
The costs associated with the exhibition are covered by the Auckland Council public art budget, and an exhibition fee of up to $2,500 plus GST (if applicable) is paid to the selected artists.
