Auckland Transport’s application to Auckland Council to designate land to build and operate the City Rail Link (CRL) is now open for public feedback. Submissions close on 19 March.

The CRL, a predominantly underground 3.4km rail line from Britomart to Mount Eden, will help unblock the entire Auckland rail network by allowing more direct routes, cutting travel times and enabling more frequent services to more places.

A recent study found that, without the CRL, Auckland’s existing public transport services will be over capacity by 2020.
