Te Whiwhi whakaaetanga hanga whare i te 20 rā
About this goal
To cope with Auckland's growth, we work closely with the building industry so consent applications can be processed effectively.
Auckland is in the midst of a development boom with Aucklanders needing more houses and varied housing options.
Importance of this goal
Auckland Council is required to process consent applications within 20 working days. However, we often need to request additional information that is missing from applications.
The clock stops while the extra information is collected, which means extra time is needed. In these cases we aim to work with our customers to complete their consent within 40 working days.
How are we achieving this goal
We strive to meet a record number of consent demands by:
- recruiting extra staff
- investing in improved technology
- streamlining processes
- making better use of third party suppliers
- working alongside the local industry.
A number of these initiatives are included in our current consenting change programme, titled Consenting Made Easy, which offers a faster, easier and quicker consenting experience.
Consenting Made Easy offers a fast-track service. Simple projects such as carports, garages and decks qualify for the fast turnaround service, which is an online-only offer that can be processed within five to 10 days. This allows for more consents to be processed faster and with fewer delays.
