Artworks Theatre

Funded and supported by Waiheke Local Board.

The Artworks Theatre is a multi-purpose performing arts centre available for hire and caters for:

  • large group activities
  • performing arts
  • theatrical performances
  • concerts
  • corporate events
  • private functions
  • community events
  • cultural celebrations
  • seminars
  • rehearsals.

Centrestage Theatre

60 Centreway Road, Orewa

Funded and supported by Hibiscus and Bays Local Board.

Centrestage Theatre is a purpose built performing arts centre with:

  • 208 seat theatre
  • brand new rehearsal space
  • spacious foyer
  • commercial kitchen and bar.

All are available for hire either separately or as a whole.

Corban Estate Arts Centre

426 Great North Road, Henderson

Funded and supported by Henderson-Massey Local Board.

The Corban Estate Arts Centre (CEAC) utilises the historic winery buildings and is home to galleries which feature a changing programme of exhibitions, a cafe, gallery shop and artist's studios.

CEAC also offers a wide range of arts and cultural events and education programmes including:

  • art classes for adults and children
  • a schools education programme.

Devonport Museum

Funded and supported by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

The Devonport Museum specialises in memorabilia, photographs and records pertaining primarily to the history of Devonport.

Estuary Arts Centre

214B Hibiscus Coast Highway, Orewa

Funded and supported by Hibiscus and Bays Local Board.

The Estuary Arts Centre provides specific outcomes, including exhibitions, educational opportunities and activities for youth, disabled and other minority groups.

Great Barrier Island Heritage Village and Arts Centre

80 Hector Sanderson Road, Claris

Funded and supported by Aotea/Great Barrier Local Board.

The Great Barrier Island Heritage Village and Arts Centre offers workshops, events, exhibitions and is currently developing a museum and sculpture trail.

Helensville Arts Centre

Funded and supported by Rodney Local Board.

The Art Centre Helensville is a gallery that hosts exhibitions, workshops and events.

Howick Children's and Youth Theatre

Star of the Sea Building, 29 Granger Road, Howick

Funded and supported by Howick Local Board.

Howick Children's and Youth Theatre offers a range of productions each year for youth as well as:

  • drama classes
  • performance classes
  • classes in the broader aspects of productions such as:
    • stage management
    • lighting
    • choreography
    • costume and set design.

Howick Historical Village

Lloyd Elsmore Park, Bells Road, Pakuranga

Howick Historical Village is a living history museum that provides an opportunity to learn about Auckland's colonial period (1840 to 1880).

Howick Little Theatre

Funded and supported by Howick Local Board.

Howick Little Theatre presents a range of productions every year and also offers drama classes and workshops.

Two function rooms are available for hire and the theatre operates a costume hire facility.

Kumeu Arts Centre

The Kumeu Arts Centre is a fit for purpose community arts centre and gallery that offers classes, untutored groups, events, workshops, festival and exhibitions.

Lake House Arts Centre

37 Fred Thomas Drive, Takapuna

Funded and supported by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

Lake House Arts is an arts and heritage learning centre that offers a comprehensive arts education programme for adults and children and exhibitions galleries.

The Lake House is also an ideal venue to hold small seminars, corporate team-building days, book or product launches and small functions.

Mairangi Arts Centre

20 Hastings Road, Mairangi Bay

Funded and supported by Hibiscus and Bays Local Board.

Mairangi Arts Centre is a community based visual arts education facility and exhibition venue.

The centre's two galleries may be hired both to display artwork and for appropriate events.

Three studios are also available for hire, with availability subject to usage by the centre's education programme.

McCahon House

13 Totara Avenue, Titirangi

Funded and supported by Waitākere Ranges Local Board.

McCahon House is a small museum and house where artist Colin McCahon painted some of his best-known works.

Michael King Writers Centre

Signalman's House, Summit Road, Devonport

Funded and supported by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

The Michael King Writers' Centre offers a programme of supported residencies for New Zealand writers and low-cost accommodation for visiting writers who need a quiet place to work.

The centre also organises workshops, literary events and has a collection of resources for writers.

Northart Gallery

Funded and supported by Kaipātiki Local Board.

Northart provides an accessible and community focussed programme of exhibitions by emerging and established, local and national artists.

Public programmes and workshops are also available.

North Shore Brass

Funded and supported by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

North Shore Brass is committed to providing opportunities to brass and percussion players.

The North Shore Brass Hall is a large multi-purpose facility available to the wider community at a competitive rate.

Pacifica Arts Centre

2 Mt Lebanon Lane, Corbans Estate, Henderson

Funded and supported by Henderson-Massey Local Board.

The Pacifica Arts Centre provides a home for Pacific arts and culture of all kinds.

It is a welcoming space, open to everyone and supportive of cultural exchange, mutual learning and a diverse range of arts and cultural activity onsite.

Pah Homestead

72 Hillsborough Road, Hillsborough

Funded and supported by Puketāpapa Local Board.

The TSB Bank Wallace Arts Centre situated in the Pah Homestead, the Arts Centre has a revolving programme of exhibitions and events.

The Pah Homestead also has rooms and spaces available for hire.

Papakura Museum

209 Great South Road, Level 3, Papakura

Funded and supported by Papakura Local Board.

Papakura Museum is a community museum founded by members of the Papakura and Districts Historical Society (PDHS).

It is home to a continually growing collection of photographs, objects and documents which tell the story of Papakura and surrounding districts.

Papatoetoe Historical Society Museum

91 Cambridge Terrace, Papatoetoe

Funded and supported by Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board.

The Papatoetoe Historical Society Museum has a wide range collection of information and artefacts with archives consisting of photographs, books and booklets on many aspects of local history.

Covering further afield are plans, posters, maps, and pictures of Auckland and other parts of New Zealand.

Playhouse Theatre

15 Glendale Road, Glen Eden

Funded and supported by Waitākere Ranges Local Board.

Playhouse Theatre, Glen Eden is in continual use by their resident theatre company, Playhouse Theatre Incorporated as well as a large number of community, professional and corporate organisations that present a multitude of performing arts events each year.

Playhouse Theatre Incorporated operates a costume hire facility at the rear of the theatre.

Props and set pieces can also be hired and other items available for hire include radio microphones, star curtain and stage rostra.

Pumphouse Theatre

Killarney Park (off Manurere Avenue), Takapuna

Funded and supported by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

The Pumphouse Theatre is a theatre and arts centre and operates as a programmed venue for hire for the performing arts and other types of staged events.

Q Theatre

305 Queen Street, Central Auckland

Funded and supported by Auckland Council.

Q Theatre is open to theatre, music, dance, comedy, film, visual art and everything in between.

The venue has a purpose built auditorium and an underground rehearsal room.

TAPAC

100 Motions Road, Western Springs

Funded and supported by Waitematā Local Board.

TAPAC is a leading performance, rehearsal and performing arts education venue.

It is a creative space where emerging and established artists can connect and be supported.

TAPAC is accessible, inclusive and affordable, and also offers:

  • more than 2000 performing arts programmes for children, teens and adults each year
  • holiday programmes, short courses, school workshops and educational outreach programmes
  • four professional performing arts studios and a purpose-built theatre for hire
  • a diverse programme of shows, festivals and events at the theatre.

Te Toi Uku

8 Ambrico Place, New Lynn

Funded and supported by Whau Local Board.

Te Toi Uku houses a large private collection of ceramics and pottery-making equipment relating to Crown Lynn Potteries Limited, a highly successful New Zealand company whose products were in virtually every New Zealand home.

Te Toi Uku can be translated as 'the art of clay'.

Te Tuhi

13 Reeves Road, Pakuranga

Funded and supported by Auckland Council.

Te Tuhi is a contemporary art space known for its core function of commissioning ambitious new artworks by a diverse selection of artists.

Te Tuhi presents group and solo exhibitions and a series of live events and offsite projects. These are supported by a range of education and public programs.

Te Uru

420 Titirangi Road, Titirangi

Te Uru Waitākere Contemporary Gallery offers a diverse programme of contemporary exhibitions, events and activities, including art, craft and design.

The Depot Artspace (and Kerr Street Artspace)

28 Clarence Street, Devonport

Funded and supported by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

The Depot Artspace offers a variety of facilities, services and events that support the creative community including galleries, a professional development programme, publications, a recording studio and a design studio.

The Rose Centre

4 School Road, Belmont

Funded and supported by Devonport-Takapuna Local Board.

The Rose Centre is a fully-functional intimate theatre with tiered seating offering comfort at affordable rates for a huge range of performance options. In addition to the theatre, the Rose Centre has a spacious foyer and two community lounges available for hire.

There is also a community pre-school catering for 21 children attached to centre.

Upstairs Art Gallery (Lopdell)

Level 1, Lopdell House, 418 Titirangi Road, Titirangi

Funded and supported by Waitākere Ranges Local Board.

The Upstairs Art Gallery is a community art gallery that runs up to 12 exhibitions per year, representing community arts and emerging artists.

The gallery also hosts solo and group exhibitions as a platform for emergent artists along with community competitions and member shows.

Uxbridge

35 Uxbridge Road, Howick

Funded and supported by Howick Local Board.

UXBRIDGE is an arts and culture hub for children's after school classes, adult evening classes, daytime art classes, school holiday programmes, weekend workshops, exercise classes and language classes.

UXBRIDGE hosts tours and fun family events as well as performances in the UXBRIDGE Theatre.

The Malcolm Smith Gallery at UXBRIDGE is a contemporary art space.

Waiheke Community Art Gallery

2 Korora Road, Oneroa, Waiheke Island

Funded and supported by Waiheke Local Board.

The Waiheke Central Community Art Gallery is home to a lively community of artists, that include painters, sculptors, jewellers, photographers and ceramicists.

The gallery offers a range of exhibitions, programmes and events. The gallery shop features high quality New Zealand ceramics, glass, jewellery and art forms.

Waitākere Central Community Arts Council

The Studio, Corban Estate Arts Centre, 2 Mt Lebanon Lane, Henderson

Funded and supported by Henderson-Massey Local Board.

Waitākere Central Community Arts Council offers Open Sessions, where artists from different genres meet to "create" art. WCCAC support arts participation in the community, promoting arts practice from grassroots to professional level artists. WCCAC also fund and facilitate art classes for those with special needs.

West Coast Gallery

Old Fire Station, Seaview Road, Piha

Funded and supported by Waitākere Ranges Local Board.

The West Coast Gallery is a dynamic community arts venue, which exhibits and sells the artworks of over 200 artists all residing in the West Coast Waitākere Ranges of Auckland.

The gallery is an essential hub of artistic activity in the area, hosting regular events and art projects encouraging community involvement.
