What you will see on the Papatoetoe heritage trail

See the starting point for this walk on Google Maps.

This heritage trail was launched to celebrate Papatoetoe's 150th Jubilee in 2012. The trail acknowledges aspects of Māori and colonial histories in the area.

This trail features a selection of heritage sites and well known landmarks that help us to understand and honour Papatoetoe's rich history and great community spirit. Stroll to The Grange Golf Club and the Papatoetoe Sports Centre, visit the site of New Zealand's first supermarket and see the artworks created to celebrate the Jubilee.

The trail consists of two sections. The first section runs 2.5km along Great South Road through to Hunters Corner. The second section covers around 2.2km of St George Street and Station Road through to old Papatoetoe. Both sections can be completed in a few hours or over several visits and the trail runs along a paved walkway.

This walk will take approximately two hours.
