Heritage surveys and evaluations

This project involves the ongoing evaluation of places and areas to ensure their historic heritage values are appropriately protected and managed.

These projects range from the survey and evaluation of a whole suburb, such as Point Chevalier, to the evaluation of the heritage values of a single property, such as a private house in Mt Albert.

The result of survey and evaluations is often the proposed inclusion of additional places and areas, as well as special character areas, into the unitary plan. This addition of places and areas would be via a formal public process, known as a plan change.
