What you should know before you apply for a building consent to install a solar or heat pump water heating device
We recommend that the supplier or installer of the appliance completes and submits the application on your behalf.
You will need to supply a letter authorising the installer to act on your behalf with the application.
After your device has been installed, you will also need to provide a completed producer statement construction (PS3) Solar or heat pump water heating.
The installer should be listed on our producer statement authors register.

|Solar or heat pump water heating devices fixed fee (non-refundable and no additional charges) installed by a person who is not an approved installer. Includes one inspection deposit fee.||Fixed fee of $295 plus inspection deposit fee of $170|

Upload the completed AC1017 Lodgement checklist: Water heater (solar or heat pump) and Agreement to provide producer statement during construction.
You will need to login to complete the online application and pay by Visa, MasterCard or Account2Account (bank transfer).
We only accept online applications for this consent. If you are unable to apply digitally, visit one of our service centres for assistance in making your online application.

What happens next
We process the heat pump water heating applications within 20 working days.
