Dogs and other animals

Updates to Auckland Council services and rules for dogs and other animals during COVID-19 Red setting.

Problems with dogs

Status: Priority calls only

To ensure social distancing rules, keep your dog on a leash when you leave your property.

We will respond to priority calls such as dog attacks or roaming dogs.

We will not be attending any 'bylaw breach' jobs or do any beach patrols (with the exception of Piha attacks reported on the penguins) until further notice.

To report a roaming dog or incident, call us on 09 301 0101.

If your dog goes missing, check the Auckland Council impounded animals Facebook page or call us on 09 301 0101.

Animal shelters

Status: By appointment only

Animal shelters will be open to the public by appointment only.

Everyone aged 12 years and three months or older will need a My Vaccine pass to enter these sites. Have your vaccine pass ready to show to the team each time you visit.

Use the NZ COVID Tracer app to scan or check in manually. For more information on physical distancing and face coverings please visit covid19.govt.nz

If your dog goes missing, check the Auckland Council impounded animals Facebook page or call us on 09 301 0101.
