Dogs and other animals
Updates to Auckland Council services and rules for dogs and other animals during COVID-19 Orange setting.
Problems with dogs
Status: Priority calls only
We will respond to priority calls such as dog attacks or roaming dogs. We will also be undertaking some targeted proactive work.
We will be cutting back on attending to low-risk jobs such as bylaw breaches and beach or park patrols (with the exception of Piha due to attacks reported on the penguins, as well as Great Barrier Island and Waiheke Island) until further notice.
To report a roaming dog or incident call us on 09 301 0101.
Animal shelters
Status: By appointment only
Animal shelters will be open to the public by appointment only.
Check the Interruptions to our services and facilities due to COVID-19 page for shelter availability prior to your visit.
Wear a face mask and maintain a physical distance from others. For more information visit

Dog walking
Status: Dogs to remain on-leash
