Candidate's statement
Having grown up on Aotea, mostly Kaitoke, this island is home. I was raised by a village, from north to south and appreciate all the wonderful values that I have been taught by the wide variety of personalities that make up our island culture. Ive been privileged to work in roles in widely different areas of the community, voluntary and paid, which has given me an open experience. On a personal level I want to support the efforts being made to make our food, freight and waste reduction more feasible and locally orientated. I am particularly interested in the benefits of this in creating a healthier, stronger community and economy, for us and our kids from Motairehe to Cape Barrier. I believe that anything that brings opportunities to come together and support each other in all aspects that make up our unique way of life must be a positive.
