Candidate's statement
I lived here, in the early 1980’s with my family and ran the Bakery supplying bread. I have maintained my presence from that time and have retired here.
I have sat on a number of Boards, N.Z. Māori Counsellors Board, Māori adviser to Auckland Health Board, Northland MAPO Health Board as well as a Ministerial appointment to several Social Service Boards.
I have extensive experience in Māori mental health, people with disabilities, elder abuse/care, educational systems, LGBTQIPA2S+ care, suicide prevention and people without a voice.
I received my Bachelor (HON), Masters (HON) from Waikato University, PhD Psychology from Utah State University. Certificates in youth training and Suicide Prevention. I have presented in over 30 conferences worldwide. I have been the principal researcher for looking at health disparities and educational systems that work.
I am currently the chair of the Aotea Local committee for the Community Organisation Grants Scheme.
