Originally sited on an L-shaped terrace at Auckland Art Gallery facing Albert Park, Long Modified Bench by artist Jeppe Hein was relocated to Waitematā Plaza in August 2015.
Not your normal bench, the work encourages curiosity, motivating people to interact with it. Benches have featured in Jeppe Hein's work since 2000 and have become increasingly more complex over time.
Long Modified Bench in Auckland, with its various rollercoaster-like forms, is the first of Hein's benches to include light.
Visit Long Modified Bench Waitematā Green on the Auckland Public Art website for more information.
