Discover where animal fibres come from and how they are used.
Horse hair, rabbit fur, wool and silk are just four of the fabulous fibres that students come in to contact as they wise-up on fibre - where it comes from, what it's used for, which ones are renewable and why that's a good thing.
Immersed in the sights, sounds and smells of the shearing shed, they watch a sheep being crutched and get the low-down on wool before exiting via the slide.
Then it's time to process the fibres. Students transform the fibres into a strong thread by hand-spinning and try their hand at simple weaving. Then it's off to the felt room to turn carded wool into hard wearing fabric.
A self-guided fibre walk around the farm completes the visit.
