The strategy sets objectives to understand, grow and protect our urban forest. It aims to increase urban tree canopy cover to 30 per cent by 2050. This will ensure no local board area has less than 15 per cent cover.
Auckland Council has a team of urban forest specialists who focus on managing, caring for and protecting public trees and planting new trees strategically.
