Fire and Emergency New Zealand is now responsible for:
- setting regional fire seasons
- issuing or renewing fire permits
- addressing fire hazards on private properties
- general fire safety complaints.

You will need to go to the Fire and Emergency New Zealand fire permit website to check your current fire season and apply for a fire permit.
