Fire is a serious threat to the Hauraki Gulf islands
All islands are under a Prohibited Fire Season (total fire ban). Only gas-powered outdoor fires are allowed.
If you cannot control a fire, do not light it.
If a fire gets out of control, we may charge the person responsible for the cost of putting it out. Some people have been billed up to $2 million.
