About The Landing
The Landing is a busy waterfront park on the ocean side of Tāmaki Drive in Ōkahu Bay. It is a hub for water sports and recreation on the Waitematā Harbour.

The site is especially important to Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei. For hundreds of years, Ōkahu Bay has been a place where waka (canoes) have arrived. Today, more people are taking part in waka ama A Māori water sport where teams paddle long canoes called waka. and other water activities in the area.
It is home to several clubs, including:
- Auckland Canoe Club
- Auckland Sailing Club
- Royal Akarana Yacht Club (incorporating the Paddlers Group)
- Orākei Water Sports
- Ocean Blue Waka Ama
- Waka Ama New Zealand
- Waterwise Auckland.
Fergs Kayaks is located at one end of the site, with the Ōrākei Marina and Akarana Marina Sports Centre at the other.
The public boat ramp at The Landing is also one of the busiest in the region.
Parking at The Landing
Auckland Council and Ōrākei Local Board are improving the management, safety and day-to-day operation of The Landing carpark.
The car park has 326 parking spaces and supports a wide range of recreational, sporting and marine activities. Increasing demand has led to peak-time congestion, causing overstays and reducing access for regular users.
To support fair access and efficient use, we are introducing a new managed parking system across the site. This excludes the parking areas separately managed by Ōrākei Marina.
When paid parking will begin
Once we finish installing the new system, we will start charging for parking.
Parking costs
Parking fees will apply to all vehicles, 24 hours a day, seven days a week:
Zero to 15 minutes (drop-off/pick up): Free
Ninety minutes (limited to one vehicle per day): Free (vehicle registration must be entered)
Standard vehicles: $3 per hour
Car and trailer parks: $5 per hour
Daily maximum: $22.
The free parking session is applied only to the first parking session of the day and cannot be split across multiple visits.
Following a procurement process, we selected Stellar to provide parking management services at the site.
We will reinvest our share of revenue from parking into improvements at The Landing and surrounding public spaces. This will help reduce the cost for ratepayers.
