About Dove-Myer Robinson Park

Dove Myer Robinson Park - Distinctive archway entrance to the Parnell Rose Gardens.

Named after Sir Dove-Myer Robinson, the popular and longest-serving (18 years) mayor of Auckland.

The park is home to the Parnell Rose Gardens and the Nancy Steen Gardens. It is a festival of colour and scent as some 5000 rose bushes grow here. There are also several remarkable native trees, including the oldest manuka and largest pōhutukawa tree in Auckland.

Enjoy the views over the harbour and Judges Bay. There is a great network of paths and plenty of spots for a picnic.

Access from Gladstone Road. Pedestrians can also access from Judges Bay Road.

Accessible toilets and changing rooms, car park, picnic tables and seating, drinking fountains and barbecues are inside the park.

Follow the 2.7km Te Ara o Taurarua / Judges Bay Path to enjoy the beauty of the rose gardens and views of the Waitematā Harbour.

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

Pedestrian access

Picnic tables

Located near the toilets on Judges Bay Road, and overlooking the bay.

Native trees

The park is home to some remarkable native trees, the oldest manuka and the largest pohutukawa tree in Auckland.

Outdoor shower

Located at the end of the toilet block on Judges Bay Road.

Fred Abler lookout

Wooden lookout platform located at the Northern end of the park overlooking the Waitemata harbour and port area.

Toilets

Located between two main gardens. Judges Bay Road toilet open 7am to 9pm in summer and 7am to 7pm in winter. Toilets inside the park open 6am to 6pm daily.

Public art

There are some nice artworks at the Fred Ambler Lookout, an open space that overlooks the container terminal.

Car parks

Access the car parks from Gladstone Road. Nancy Steen Garden gates open 6am to 8.30pm in summer and 6am to 6pm in winter. Fred Ambler gates open 6am to 6pm daily.

Located near the toilets on Judges Bay Road.

Drinking fountains are at the Rose Gardens and next to the Judges Bay toilets.

Nancy Steen garden

The cottage-style Nancy Steen garden offers excellent examples of heritage roses. They are best viewed between October and April.
