This archaeologically significant heritage site is under restoration and is not open to the public.
The park is situated on one of the last volcanic cones rising above the industrial roofs of East Tamaki. Along with the neighbouring church land it makes up the remaining 13 hectare of a 160 hectare farm established by Reverend Gideon Smales in the late 1850s.
We generally have a guided ranger walk around October as part of Heritage Festival. Keep an eye out on the Heritage Festival website and in Our Auckland for advertised walks. Walks are limited to 35 participants.
