About Mountfort Park

Mountfort Park - Club rooms building.

This sports park is over 50 hectares, is surrounded by established trees, and has fabulous informal recreation opportunities and facilities. It is also home to the Manurewa Pool and Leisure Centre.

Access from Weymouth and Sykes roads, and Dr Pickering Drive.

Playgrounds, toilets and changing rooms, picnic tables and seating, car park (including mobility parking), basketball and volleyball courts, sports fields, drinking fountains and swimming pool are inside the park.

Follow the Mountfort Park Path around the park.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

Playgrounds at Mountfort Park

Mountfort Park - Climbing nets set among the trees.

There are two separate play areas.

One is an old-style bark playground with monkey bars and bridges linking slides. The platforms are built around a tree providing some shade. The other smaller playground has spinning and climbing structures.

Both are older playgrounds located next to a basketball court, rugby, cricket fields and the pools. It is a large park and bus stops are close by.

Playground safety rules and tips

Follow these rules to keep yourself and others safe:

Playgrounds are risky and designed to challenge – always supervise children.
Use play equipment as it is intended.
Playgrounds are for everyone – respect others, take turns.

Summer tips:

Playground surfaces get hot – check before using and wear appropriate clothing and shoes.
Play when it’s cool and avoid the heat of the day.
Be sunsmart.
