Maraetai Coast Road works - 8 December 2025 to July 2026

Vector is installing underground power lines along Maraetai Coast Road. Work starts at the Umupuia end.

From December to March the road will be reduced to a single lane with Stop/Go signs in place. From March the road will be completely closed for around 3 months (weather permitting).

During the complete closure you will need to use alternate routes. To travel from Clevedon to Maraetai, Beachlands and Pine Harbour. - use Twilight or West roads, via Brookby and Whitford. When works permit, the road will open to pedestrians and cyclists on weekends.

Coastal park with a great beach for swimming.

Access from Maraetai Drive. You can also get there by public transport.

Parking, two playgrounds, accessible toilets, basketball court, seating and picnic tables are inside the park. The Maraetai Beach Boat Club and boat ramp are at the northern end of the park.

Follow the Beachlands to Maraetai Path along the beautiful Pōhutukawa Coast.

You need to know

Animals

Dogs must be on leash at all times in our parks unless otherwise stated in the dog walking section.

Alcohol

Alcohol is banned from some public places in Auckland. See Alcohol bans to find out the rules for each park and view ban maps.

Smokefree parks

Our parks are all smokefree.

Waste

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Outdoor fires

It is illegal to light open fires in public areas in the Auckland region.

Playgrounds at Maraetai Park

This beachfront playground is in the centre of Maraetai and is partially fenced on the car park side.

There are two separate playgrounds; one for preschoolers and a larger playground for older children. Both have climbing frames and swings.

The preschool playground has a wider slide to allow a parent to use it with their child.
