About Tūī Glen Reserve

Tūī Glen Reserve - Section of boardwalk linking the path with one of the parking areas.

Located close to the heart of Henderson town centre and incorporating the Henderson Creek Walkway, this large park is a hidden treasure.

It is named for the large number of tūī that fed on the kōwhai nectar of the stream banks original vegetation, and is a rolling landscape of open space, large trees, and history.

The reserve was registered as the first camping ground in the county in 1925. It contains ten historic buildings including the Manuka Shade Cabin, an excellent example of a simple colonial cottage.

Access the car park from Claude Brookes Drive. Gates are open 7am to 9pm in summer and 7am to 7pm in winter. Pedestrians can also access from Chilcott Road and through Cranwell Park.

A playground, flying fox, accessible toilets, seating and picnic tables, car parks (including mobility parks), jetty, and a barbecue are inside the park.

Follow the Henderson Creek Path that links the Northwestern Cycleway and Henderson town centre.

A wide concrete path gives a good accessible link through the centre of the park, extending from north to south.

Animals

Use bins where provided to dispose of your rubbish. If there are no bins take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.

Three large towers up in the tree tops provide a unique experience at this playground. The playground includes a colourful eagles nest, a series of pipe slides, and a basket swing.

A small sand play area is beside the large towers.

A double flying fox is nearby.

Car park

There are several parking areas within the reserve. Access from the end of Claude Brookes Drive. Gate open 7am to 9pm daily.

Mobility parking

Accessible parking spaces are available in some of the parking areas and in front of buildings. Access from the end of Claude Brookes Drive. Gate open 7am to 9pm daily.

Playgrounds

There is a large playground near the middle of the reserve, and a smaller one on the eastern side near the scout hall. A double flying fox is near the large playground.

Picnic tables

Tables are scattered throughout the reserve.

Seating

Seating is along the paths at the northern end of the reserve.

Drinking fountain

Located next to the toilets.

Accessible toilet

Two accessible toilets west of the playground and near the middle of the reserve. Open 7am to 9pm daily.
