Te Haruhi Bay campground at Shakespear Regional Park

Flat, grassed all modes and vehicle-based campground behind the sand dunes and located at the very eastern end of Te Haruhi Bay. It is surrounded and divided by native plants.

The campground is located in the pest-free Shakespear Open Sanctuary.

Directions and access

Main park gates are open from 6am to 9pm during daylight savings hours and 6am to 7pm during non-daylight saving hours.

From the park entrance follow the signs to Te Haruhi Bay, and then to the campground.

You will need a combination code to open the locked access gate - we will send you the combination code with your booking confirmation. The campground is approximately 250m along the access road.

Booking information

Bookings can only be made six months in advance for campgrounds. Availability refreshes at midnight daily.
From 17 December to 31 January: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 10 people.
From 1 February to 16 December: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 50 people.

Amenities

  • Water

    Drinking water is from a town supply and is safe to drink. Taps are located around the campground.

  • Power supply

    No power supply.

  • Toilets and bathrooms

    Flush toilet. Two cold outside showers at the front of the toilet block.
    You can bring your own solar shower, shower tent and solar shower support. Showers must not be hung from trees

Rules

  • Animals

    Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all times.

  • Cleaning

    Your campsite must be clean and tidy during your stay, and when you leave.

  • Rubbish

    There are large recycling and general rubbish containers, and a worm bin. Only put recyclable items into the recycling container as sign posted. Dispose of all biodegradable food waste as sign- posted in the worm bin.

  • Overnight vehicles and tents

    You may stay in a tent, campermatic/pop top camper and all purpose-built vehicle, motorhome, campervan, caravan, 5th wheeler or bus.

  • Fires

    Fires prohibited at all times.
