This campground is at the far end of Tawhitokino Beach. It is part of the Te Ara Moana kayak trail.
The trail takes you past Te Iwirahirahi Point, Ruakura Bay and Waiti Bay to the white sands of Tawhitokino Beach. It's a 30 minute walk back to Waiti Bay making it a very tranquil escape.
Accessible by foot only
There is no vehicle access. The campground can only be accessed by foot at low tide.
Main park gates are open from 6am to 9pm during daylight savings hours and 6am to 7pm during non-daylight saving hours.
From the car park at Kawakawa Bay, follow the Tawhitokino Track on foot around the rocks and over Papanui Point to the beach.

Bookings can only be made six months in advance for campgrounds. Availability refreshes at midnight daily.
Group bookings are limited to a maximum of 10 people.

Stream water only - boil water for at least three minutes before using.

Two compost toilets on site.
Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all times.
Your campsite must be clean and tidy during your stay, and when you leave.
No bins or rubbish disposal facilities. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.
You may stay in tents only.
