There is no vehicle access. Access by boat or by foot from Mahurangi West Regional Park - you can cross Te Muri Estuary two hours either side of low tide.

Directions and access
Main park gates are open from 6am to 9pm during daylight savings hours and 6am to 7pm during non-daylight saving hours.
From Sullivans Bay car park, join the Cudlip Point Loop Track (red markers) and walk south up and over the hill to the Te Muri Estuary. Cross the estuary two hours either side of low tide.
Overland route
Continue south along Te Muri Beach foreshore and join the Purple Track and walk south up and over the hill to the Puhoi River. This route is approximately 2km (20 to 30 minutes) from the estuary.

Continue south along Te Muri Beach and around Te Muri Point. This route is approximately 2km (20 to 30 minutes) from the estuary.

Bookings can only be made six months in advance for baches. Availability refreshes at midnight daily.

Bedrooms
- Bedroom one: two single beds
- Bedrooms two and three: one set of single bunk beds in each (i.e. sleeps 2 people in each room). Top bunks are not recommended for under 9 year olds.
You need to supply bed linen, blankets, duvets, sleeping bags, pillows, towels, tea towels, food, mosquito repellent and personal items. A torch or battery-powered lamp is recommended for reading at night.
Amenities
Bore water, treated (drinkable) potable water. Hot water by gas heating system.
No mains supply. Solar charged batteries run the fridge, gas cooker ignition, septic system and some dim lights.
A small fridge freezer. Gas cooker and toasting grill, kettle for gas cooker, coffee plunger, pots and pans, cooking utensils, cutlery and crockery provided.
One bathroom with shared shower and toilet.
None. Ensure you have warm clothing, bedding and a hot water bottle.
Rules
Dogs, other animals and pets are prohibited at all times.
You must keep the cottage and surrounding site clean and tidy during your stay, and when you leave.
To protect against COVID-19 please clean all utensils, crockery and surfaces on your arrival and departure.No bins or rubbish disposal facilities. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.
You may not stay in tents around the cottage.
