We introduced our Thriving Rangatahi plan in 2024 to replace our previous child and youth strategy, 'I Am Auckland'.
Thriving Rangatahi aims to improve outcomes for tamariki (children) and rangatahi (young people) in Tāmaki Makaurau.
It focuses on five key areas that matter most to children and young people. It also sets out ways of working to help us achieve these goals.

Thriving Rangatahi is part of our community wellbeing strategy – Ngā Hapori Momoho Thriving Communities. While both strategies support the same outcomes, Thriving Rangatahi focuses on children and young people.
Thriving Rangatahi recognises that healthy and thriving children and young people are essential for strong and successful communities.
We developed this plan by listening to the ideas and experiences of hundreds of children and young people from across Tāmaki Makaurau. This plan reflects what they said matters most to them.
