The Upper Harbour Local Parks Management Plan covers around 260 local parks and almost 800 hectares of land.
The plan provides a policy framework that will guide decision-making over the next 10 years.
It also provides direction on Upper Harbour local park use, protection and development.
The first round of public consultation on the Upper Harbour Local Parks Management Plan closed on 30 August 2019.
We received 341 submissions from individuals and organisations. These came via our online feedback form and mapping tool, by email, hard-copy feedback forms and postcards.
We heard from organisations including:
We also engaged with mana whenua throughout the development of the plan.
The second round of public consultation closed on 15 November 2022. We received 200 submissions. These came via our online and printed feedback forms and by email.
We held a hearing on 29 March 2023 where the panel heard 11 verbal submissions.
This plan was adopted by Upper Harbour Local Board on 22 February 2024.
