In 2018, Maungakiekie-Tāmaki Local Board received feedback from the local community, residents and mana whenua Hapū and iwi with ancestral relationships to certain areas in Tāmaki Makaurau where they exercise customary authority. about a proposed new design for the reserve.

Omaru Creek runs through Eastview Reserve. The local board has considered community concerns about the health of the creek and will make further improvements to it in 2025.
