We are working with the central government to reduce flood risks in Māngere by increasing the capacity of Harania Creek. We started construction works on this project in April 2025 and expect to finish in mid-2026.
The Harania Creek Flood Resilience Project is part of our Making Space for Water programme. It aims to:

This project does not include work on the embankment at the south-east corner of Blake Road Reserve. We will continue to investigate long-term options to improve water flow and prevent blockages at this embankment.
