The transfer station accepts general rubbish and materials that are contaminated or require sorting, including:
- mixed construction and demolition waste
- hazardous waste
- fibrous or pest plants
- wet cardboard.
Household refuse in official council bags will be accepted at Aotea Transfer Station at no additional cost.
There will be a minimum charge of $10 for waste to landfill.
You must wear protective footwear at all times.
Our opening hours change yearly to coincide with the peak periods and school holidays.
Standard hours:
- Monday and Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 9am - 4pm
- Saturday: 10am - 3pm
- Sunday: Closed
Peak season hours (Monday prior to Christmas Day to Saturday prior to Waitangi Day):
- Monday to Friday: 9am - 4pm
- Saturday: 10am - 3pm
- Sunday: Closed
The transfer station will be closed on the following public holidays:
- New Year's Day
- day after New Year's Day
- Auckland Anniversary Day
- Waitangi Day
- Easter Monday
- Good Friday
- Easter Sunday
- Anzac Day
- King's Birthday
- Matariki
- Labour Day
- Christmas Day
- Boxing Day.
