Onehunga Community Recycling Centre is operated by Onehunga Zero Waste Ltd, a charitable registered company formed by The Synergy Projects Trust and Localised Ltd. It is the first Māori-Pasifika led recycling centre in Aotearoa.
Their objectives are to:
- divert waste from landfill
- create new jobs and volunteer opportunities for the local community
- support sustainability in the community.
Income from this kaupapa (set of principles) is:
- reinvested back into Onehunga Zero Waste Ltd
- used to support local community projects.
Before you visit
Contact the centre in advance about:
- bulky items or large batches
- items that need extra handling or preparation
- anything unusual or that may need staff approval.
Fees and charges
Fees may apply for some materials or services.
Items that may be accepted
The centre may accept and sell reusable items in the on-site reuse shop if they are in good condition. This supports sustainability in the community and gives used items a second life.
