What 'Adopt a Park' is about
Join the 'Adopt a Park' programme and give your students a chance to:
- learn about their local park
- get out of the classroom
- do something good for the community and the environment.
We can tailor the programme to suit your school. You can get involved as part of a class or environmental group.
Activities and sessions
Activities can include:
- planting trees and creating mulch A layer of material like bark, leaves or grass clippings spread on top of soil to keep it moist and reduce weeds.
- monitoring and controlling pests
- weeding and removing pest plants
- collecting litter
- monitoring wildlife
- reporting any issues in the park
- monitoring and caring for streams.
Rangers can also give educational sessions on topics related to the park.
Support we provide
We provide all resources and support for up to four activities or sessions each year.
After your fourth session, we can provide equipment for groups to continue volunteering independently.
