At Alert Level 3: Step 1 you can travel throughout Auckland for exercise and recreation outdoors. Our early childhood centres are open for enrolled children only.

Customer-facing facilities like leisure centres, community venues, customer service centres and libraries will remain closed until further notice. Essential services will continue.

Wear a face covering, use the NZ COVID Tracer app, maintain a 2m physical distance, wash your hands, and stay home if you are sick.

Community group support

Strong community groups are essential to vibrant communities. A large number of not-for-profit community groups are involved in a variety of community support and development activities across Auckland.

Types of support we provide

We provide various forms of support to community groups to sustain or enhance their work.

The types of support provided to community groups include:

  • various forms of training and advice such as organisational development
  • funding support
  • in certain circumstances, subsidised accommodation to community groups and organisations in the form of community leases and community tenancies
  • community newsletters and notice boards
  • community advisory services
  • child and youth services
  • projects to improve health, safety and wellbeing
  • information centres and Citizens Advice Bureaux.
