Pursuant to Section 24 (2) (b) of the Reserves Act 1977, Auckland Council hereby notifies its intention to change the classification of two portions of recreation reserve described in the schedule below which form part of the Coatesville Recreation Reserve located at the corner of Mahoenui Valley Road and the Coatesville Riverhead Highway.
Sited within the reserve are two buildings occupied by the Coatesville Settlers Hall and the North Shore Playcentre Association. The major portions of both the hall building and the playcentre building occupy a classified local purpose (hall site) reserve and a classified local purpose (site for a playcentre) reserve respectively. Both buildings encroach into adjoining portions of classified recreation reserve.
The Reserves Act requires all reserves to be classified to reflect the nature of the activities currently occupying them.
It is therefore proposed that the classification of the portion of recreation reserve encroached by the hall building be changed by the Council pursuant to the Reserves Act from a recreation reserve to a local purpose (hall site) reserve. It is also proposed that the classification of the portion of recreation reserve encroached by the playcentre building be changed by the council from a recreation reserve to a local purpose (site for a playcentre) reserve.
Once the classification of the two encroached recreation reserve portions have been changed as proposed, they will align with the activities carried out within the occupying buildings and therefore comply with the requirements of the Reserves Act.
