Reclassification of reserves within the Kaipātiki Local Board area

​Auckland Council intends to prepare a management plan covering all local parks within the Kaipātiki Local Board area. Prior to that action commencing the Reserves Act 1977 (RA) requires all reserve lands within the local board area to be suitably classified in terms of that Act.

Under section 24 of the Reserves Act 1977 (RA), Auckland Council notifies its intention to reclassify the reserves described in the Schedule below from the existing purposes to the purposes set out in that Schedule. The reasons for each of the reclassifications proposed are included in the Schedule below.

Schedule

Parcel to be reclassified recreation reserve under section 24 of the RA

  • Kauri Glen Reserve. Part Allot 7 PSH of Takapuna, 182m2. Current classification: scenic reserve S19(1)(a).

Reason for reclassification: No longer suitable for scenic classification as there are no scenic values and to bring the parcel into better alignment with the primary purpose as an accessway to the adjoining recreation reserve.

 

Parcels to be reclassified scenic reserve under section 24 of the RA and to be subject to the provisions of section 19(1)(a) of the RA

  • Birkenhead War Memorial Park, Part Allot 152 PSH of Takapuna, 47079m². Current classification: recreation reserve.
  • Birkenhead War Memorial Park, Lot 47 DP 60591, 22295m². Current classification: scenic reserve S19(1)(b).
  • Cecil Eady Bush, Lot 2 DP 107047, 59491m². Current classification: scenic reserve S19(1)(b).

Reason for reclassification of following parcels: better alignment of reserve classification with primary purpose.

 

Parcel to be reclassified scenic reserve under section 24 of the RA and to be subject to the provisions of section 19(1)(b) of the RA

  • Glencourt Reserve, Lot 48 DP 68472, 144m². Current classification: local purpose (accessway) reserve.

Reason for reclassification: Better alignment of reserve classification with primary purpose.

 

Parcels to be reclassified scenic reserve under section 24 of the RA and to be subject to the provisions of section 19(1)(b) of the RA

The following parcels are all currently classified recreation reserve.

Reason for reclassification: better alignment of reserve classification with primary purpose.

 

Parcels to be reclassified local purpose (parking and community use) reserve under section 24 of the RA

  • A F Thomas Park. Current classification: local purpose (community building) reserve:
    • Lot 4 DP 150598, 846m²
    • Lot 3 DP 150598, 9953m²

Reason for reclassification: better alignment of reserve classification with primary purpose.

 

Parcels to be reclassified local purpose (community use) reserve under section 24 of the RA

The following parcels are all currently classified recreation reserve.

  • Marlborough Park: Lot 152 DP 49525 part thereof *.

Reason for reclassification: Re-classify area occupied by Marlborough Hall consistently with the primary purpose.

  • Shepherds Park: Part Lot 1 DP 99986 part thereof *.

Reason for reclassification: Re-classify area occupied by Beach Haven Community House and Creche consistently with the primary purpose.
