We received 149 responses to the survey from the community.

In general, young people expressed their desire to do things in their own local areas, without having to travel to other parts of Auckland.

Key feedback themes

  • the need for opportunities for young people to connect with one another in their local areas
  • the need for activities for young people, particularly teenagers, in their local areas
  • having safe places in the local community for teenagers to gather and spend time together.

Franklin Local Board is seeking advice from council staff about how youth outcomes can be addressed through the existing 19/20 work programme. The board will also use the information gathered in the survey to inform development of the Local Board Plan in 2020.
