About the Heard Park concept plan

We want to revitalise Heard Park to become the core of the historic Parnell town centre, and the heart of Parnell.

Waitemata Local Board has developed a concept plan for this important park, located at the mid-point of Parnell Road, that outlines our long-term aspirations, including recreational and play improvements.

Our vision for Heard Park

Our vision for Heard Park is aligned with the vision and objectives of the Parnell Plan.

Our aim is to create a safe space for all members of the community and to enable a range of uses, including, markets, events, active and passive recreation.

Existing elements that positively contribute to Parnell's unique environment will be retained, protected and enhanced.

We also aim to:

  • provide all abilities access
  • direct people to where they want to go
  • encourage users to both move through the site, and stay and enjoy the park.

Heard Park will be a space that creatively celebrates Parnell's cultural and historical heritage.
