We're going to enhance Henderson Valley Road to create a safer and more connected area between the town centre, the twin streams and Corban Estate Arts Centre.
Panuku Development Auckland is leading this project with support from the Henderson-Massey Local Board. Panuku Development Auckland is also leading other urban regeneration initiatives throughout Henderson.
Why we're doing this
This project is the first phase in strengthening connections between local amenities, public transport, education, employment and open space in Henderson.
The road currently allows vehicles to pass through at high speeds creating safety issues for locals, the nearby kindergarten and high school students.
We need to make the road easier for locals to cross and safer for people on bikes and in cars moving along Henderson Valley Road.
Panuku is working closely with Auckland Transport to do further investigation work for cycling routes within the wider Henderson area. This investigation work is likely to take some time. Further community engagement will be carried out as designs for routes are developed.
How we're planning to do it
The project involves upgrading 350m of the northern end of Henderson Valley Road between Smythe Road and Great North Road.
The enhancement will include:
- the under-grounding of power-lines
- over 20 new street trees
- new footpaths
- pedestrian crossings
- protected cycle paths
- all requirements for vehicles and freight to move efficiently.
What we need your feedback on
We need your feedback to help us ensure the designs are fit for purpose and reflect community needs.
We want to know:
- what you like and dislike about the concept plans
