Mettam Drive Reserve Development

About the Mettam Drive Reserve Development

We want to hear your ideas for developing the land on the corner of Gilbert Hall Way and Mettam Drive in Swanson as a reserve.

We intend for this to be a recreational area that will serve the needs of the development's local residents.

Development of the park is dependent on budget decisions that will be made through the annual planning process.

Have your say

Although we've already received some suggestions for the area, we'd like to hear what you need from this space.

In particular, we want to know:

  • which recreational activities you'd like to see on the reserve
  • how you feel about community-owned activities being held on this site.

As there are already two playgrounds within walking distance of the reserve, we'd prefer to hear your ideas about alternative recreational options.

Previous community feedback

Suggestions we've already received from the community include:

  • a picnic area with seating
  • paths, trees, and landscaping
  • a netball hoop
  • a handball court
  • a table tennis area
  • a community-run events shed
  • community gardens
  • a Tai Chi area
  • a bootcamp space
  • fitness equipment.

When you can have your say

You can have your say from 10 to 24 April 2019.

More information

You're invited to an open day and free sausage sizzle at the new park on 10 April 2019 where you can share your ideas with us.

If you can't make it to the open day, we still want to hear your views.

Visit the Ways to have your say about the Mettam Drive Reserve Development page to find out how to give us feedback online and by post.

This consultation closed for feedback on 24 April 2019. Thank you for having your say.

We are currently reviewing your feedback and considering the options for the reserve.

We will provide a summary of the consultation feedback on the website by 8 May 2019.

What happens next

We will use your feedback to draft a concept plan for the park within the next six months.
