About the Salisbury Reserve entrance upgrade

We are planning on making improvements to the entrance of Salisbury Reserve on Argyle Street in Herne Bay.

We would like to get your feedback on two options for the entrance design. Option one maximizes the area for lawn, a new pathway and additional trees, while option two uses part of the open space for car parking.

This project will be made possible through the removal of the old Masonic Hall on the site, which was originally purchased to be used as the entrance to Salisbury Reserve. The hall will be removed as sustainably as possible.

In 2011, we asked for expressions of interest for community use of the hall. However, after receiving legal advice about the need to rezone the hall as a community facility, and the high cost of upgrading the hall, we decided to focus on improving the entrance to the park instead.

We will continue to support the other community facility in the reserve, the Herne Bay Petanque Club. We have recently funded renewal work, and have plans to upgrade the toilets and improve accessibility.
