We received 124 submissions on the two options for the entrance of Salisbury Reserve in Herne Bay.
68 per cent of respondents preferred option one, which uses the space for a new pathway, lawn and trees.
27 per cent of respondents preferred option two, which uses the space for car parking.
A small number of respondents had no preference.
The next steps
The Waitematā Local Board heard the outcome of this consultation at their business meeting on Tuesday 11 December.
They made the decision to proceed with option one - Proposed new park entrance without parking.
The full resolution is:
- approve the Salisbury Reserve entrance concept plan (option one)
- agree to staff proceeding with the developed design and implementation
- request that Auckland Transport investigate options for providing mobility parking, serving Salisbury Reserve and the Herne Bay Petanque Club
- request that Auckland Council officers investigate options for step-free access into Herne Bay Petanque Club.
