About the Sunnynook Plan

The Planning Team at Auckland Council have reviewed all the feedback which has helped shape the 30-year vision for the Sunnynook, Tōtara Vale and Forrest Hill area.

The finalised Sunnynook Plan has now been adopted by Devonport-Takapuna and Kaipātiki Local Boards and is now available.

Thank you for your interest in the Sunnynook Plan. Consultation on the draft plan closed on 8 July 2018.

We received 159 feedback submissions through the online form. In addition, the four consultation events were well-attended, and resulted in more than 500 votes cast for a number of actions outlined in the plan.

The most popular actions in the plan were:

  • improving water quality in streams, including those that contribute to the Wairau Creek catchment, and restoring native bush in the area
  • restoring natural environments
  • improving pedestrian and vehicle safety along Sunnynook Road
  • upgrading Sunnynook Square on Sunnynook Road.

There were also comments about parking, improving the shopping centre, pedestrian and road safety, and park maintenance.

The final Sunnynook Plan has been updated based on your feedback, as well as feedback from the working party, Auckland Transport and relevant council departments. We have made some revisions to the actions outlined in the plan, and have included some new actions.

Once approved by the Devonport-Takapuna and Kaipātiki local boards, the Sunnynook Plan will be finalised and published. We expect this to take place in November 2018.

If you have provided your email address, we will notify you when the plan is publicly available.
