About the path

A scenic bush track in the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park, with great views over the Manukau Harbour and Lower Nihotupu Reservoir.

The path starts alongside the Watercare reservoir. There is parking here, but this is a popular spot so car park can fill up quickly.

The Exhibition Drive path is compacted gravel and fairly flat. It's a former road so great for walking, running and cycling.

Watch for the information posts along the way which explain some of the intriguing but often missed features of Exhibition Drive.

Exhibition Drive was first a tramway for laying the pipeline that carried water from the Upper Nihotupu Dam to the city. It was widened to road width to provide access to the Waitākere Ranges. This opened up the area for recreation activities such as scenic drives, picnics and walking.

At the turnaround point, there are great views over the Lower Nihotupu Reservoir and Manukau Harbour. If you want to keep exploring, continue on the Beveridge to Arataki Path to reach the Arataki Visitor Centre - the gateway to the Waitākere Ranges Regional Park.
