Help protect our kauri trees

We have closed some sections of the Hillary Trail to prevent the spread of kauri dieback.

When you visit our parks you need to clean your footwear and equipment to avoid transferring disease from one area to another. For more information see Protect our kauri trees.

You can still enjoy parts of the Hillary Trail

  • Karekare to Pararaha valley along the coast
  • Mercer Bay Loop
  • Lake Wainamu and the complete section 7 from Te Henga.

A good overnight option is Muriwai to Te Henga (Bethells Beach), staying at Wainamu Luxury Tents for the night.
