At Alert Level 3: Step 2 you can travel throughout Auckland for exercise and recreation outdoors. Our early childhood centres are open for enrolled children only.

Some customer-facing facilities like service centres and community centres are now open. Essential services continue.

Te Ara Tahuna Estuary cycleway and walkway

Description of the walkway

This pathway for walkers and cyclists goes around the beautiful Ōrewa estuary, connecting Hibiscus Coast beaches, community facilities and the Ōrewa township.

The route meanders through bush, beach and estuary, exploring the natural and historical significance of the area.




The path is mainly flat and sealed, so it is suitable for all fitness levels.

This cycleway and walkway is a shared space - cyclists and pedestrians are both entitled to use it.

There is parking at Western Reserve on Hibiscus Coast Highway.
