Ambury campground at Ambury Regional Park

COVID-19 Alert Level 2 – Accommodation information

Campgrounds, self-contained vehicle sites, baches and lodges are open for bookings in line with Alert Level 2 restrictions (Campgrounds are subject to usual seasonal closures).

All bookings for accommodation prior to 31 August 2020 (at Alert Level 3) have been cancelled and we are processing full refunds.

A basic flat campground. There are ten hardstands available on a first-come first-served basis.

There are toilets and drinking water nearby.

In dry weather campervans or motorhomes can park anywhere in the campground.

Motorbikes at Ambury

Motorbikes are not allowed in the park. If you have any concerns, call the Ambury Regional Park Duty Ranger on 09 301 0101.

Closed for winter

You cannot access the campground while it is closed over the winter.

Directions and access

From the park entrance, drive to the farm gate by the sheep yards. Follow the metal road and turn right at the small horse shelter. The metal road ends at the campground.

You will need a combination code to open the locked access gate - we will send you the combination code with your booking confirmation.

Booking information

Bookings can only be made six months in advance for campgrounds. Availability refreshes at midnight daily.
From 17 December to 31 January: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 10 people.
From 1 February to 16 December: group bookings are limited to a maximum of 30 people.

No drinking (potable) water supply - boil water for at least three minutes before using.

Dogs are prohibited at all times.



Your campsite must be clean and tidy during your stay, and when you leave.



No bins or rubbish disposal facilities. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.


Overnight vehicles and tents

You may stay in a tent, motorhome, campervan, caravan, campermatic/pop top camper or light trailer.
You may not stay in portacoms or containers dwellings.



Fires prohibited at all times.
