This campground is nestled behind the dunes at Te Arai with the odd pōhutukawa tree for shade.
The campground is a flat grassed and metal area with all-weather access on the front half.
Only vehicles with a NZS5465 Certified Self-Containment Certificate (CSC) can stay up to three nights. Maximum of one vehicle per booking.
Main park gates are open from 6am to 9pm during daylight savings hours and 6am to 7pm during non-daylight saving hours.
Turn to the left (north) at the intersection following the signs to the end of the northern car park. The CSC campground is accessible at all times through the locked access gate - a combination code will be provided with your booking.

Bookings can only be made six months in advance for campgrounds. Availability refreshes at midnight daily.

No bins or rubbish disposal facilities. Take all rubbish and recycling with you when you leave.
All visitors must park in the day use carpark.
You may stay in certified self-contained (CSC) vehicles at this site. Must have a current NZS5465 Certified Self-Containment Certificate from Ministry for the Environment.
Motorhomes, campervans, caravans, 5 wheelers and buses must not be longer than 8m.
You may not stay in tents or portable container dwellings.
