Wellsford Centennial Park Masterplan

This plan will guide long-term improvements to the park for years to come.

About the Wellsford Centennial Park Masterplan

The Wellsford Centennial Park Masterplan sets out:

  • the historical, cultural, environmental and recreational values of the park
  • the consultation process to create the masterplan
  • existing buildings, structures, recreation facilities and clubs
  • key design principles to guide development of the park
  • a spatial plan showing how the park can be improved over time.

Our vision for Wellsford Centennial Park

The masterplan outlines the vision for the park as a key community sports and recreational hub for Wellsford for the next ten years.

Four key values and principles influence the masterplan:

  • manaaki - to cherish, conserve and sustain
  • taiao - to encompass the natural environment
  • hauora - well-being and health
  • whanaungatanga - family, kinship and connection.

What the Wellsford Centennial Park Masterplan will do

The masterplan combines assets and groups similar activities to improve use of the park and create more easily accessible open space.

Planned improvements

We want to include:

  • outdoor courts with multi-lined surfaces for netball, tennis and basketball
  • a proposed community-initiated multi-use facility
  • dual-language signs for people to find their way
  • pedestrian access by the playground, courts and fields
  • more opportunities for children to play with an inclusive playground and park activities.
